Research Post

Topic:     For my research topic, I decided to research merchants. The goals of my research paper are to show a connection between merchants and the Age of Exploration, and discover how merchants affected the medieval economy. Also, I will prove that technology would not have progressed and developed at the rate that it did without merchants. To do this, I will focus on how merchants in the middle ages spread foreign cultures; I will mention laws that were passed to help or hurt merchant travel, and how merchants inspired exploration.

Facts:     During the Middle Ages, merchants were making a fortune off of trade. Some nobles and other government officials saw this as a way to boost the amount of money that they had. So, they made deals with the merchants, like they would give the merchant free passage and men for a portion of the wealth. Although this may seem minor, long distance merchants were able to make deals with kings and nobles, who granted them influential positions, such as overseer of "x" province. Eventually, even banks were funding merchants, so much so that when some merchants settled back into ordinary town life, that the  European economy collapsed.

    My topic also will assess the Age of Exploration. I talk about how Columbus caused it. Your topic sounds interesting

Free post

     I did several things over the weekend that would make the weekend qualify as unique. Friday night, after LAUNCH, our plumbing system broke, leaving our house without hot water for the entire weekend. The next morning I awoke and had to take care of the yard. This is usually not a big deal, just a quick cutting of the grass. Unfortunately the I put this off for so long that our yard became a jungle. My lawnmower's weals were too small to drive over the thickets of grass in my path. After my first impossible task was completed, I had to clean up the yard. To my dismay, we had our roof redone last weekend, and the roof-men dumped all of the old shingles into our pool. Thus I needed to get them out. So I dove down into the pool, which was green by now due to the algae build up and not heated, to pull out the roof shingles.      The nine eleven attacks were a collection of Islamic terrorists from Saudia Arabia hijacked and crashed planes into the Pentagon, the World Trade Center, and one plane crashed in a field while heading to Washington DC. Ther was over three-thousand people killed and six-thousand people injured in these attack.       As a kid, I heard about 911 every year,  but I never really understood the attacks until I read various accounts. After reading numerous articles on the acts of terrorism, I contemplated what would have been going through my head if I had been in the Twin Towers. I thought about my priorities, if I was ready to die, and how I would react if i actually survived.
